Shavua Tov 8 Adar 5785

Shavuah Tov

Plans are coming together as we prepare to host the 2025 JCC Maccabi Games from July 27 to August 1 in Tucson, I am filled with excitement and anticipation for the incredible opportunity that lies ahead. This event will not only bring enthusiastic and talented athletes from across the continent and Israel to our community but will also provide us with a chance to embody a fundamental Jewish value: Hachnassat Orchim, the welcoming of guests.

Welcoming strangers into our homes is a hallmark of our tradition. The Talmud teaches us that the guest should feel as if they are family, and through the act of welcoming, we create bonds that will last well beyond the week of the games. This year, we have the unique opportunity to put this value into action by offering to house out-of-town athletes during the JCC Maccabi Games.

While some may have questions about opening their homes, I assure you that the rewards will far outweigh any questions or concerns. By opening our doors, we not only provide these young athletes with a safe and supportive environment but also enrich our community with their diverse backgrounds and talents. This experience can foster friendships, cultural exchange, and a lasting impact on both our guests and our community.

I encourage each of you to consider what it means to welcome a stranger and to step up in this crucial moment. This is a wonderful opportunity to show off our remarkable community, your contribution will play a vital role in making this event unforgettable. We see the concept of welcoming guests come to life in Beauty and the Beast, Be Our Guest!

Let us come together as a community to showcase the warmth and generosity that defines us. Together, we can create an exceptional experience for all, rooted in our commitment to hospitality and kindness.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement. I look forward to seeing how we can all contribute to the success of the 2025 JCC Maccabi Games.
