JCare Afterschool (k-5th Grade)

JCare, the Tucson J’s afterschool program for kids in grades K-5, provides an intentional afterschool experience where all children discover, learn and grow.
  • One-stop shop for expert-led enrichment activities and programs in arts, sciences, and sports
  • Homework help
  • Fun physical activity and outdoor play
  • Social action projects around inclusivity, kindness, and community
  • Integrated Jewish values and holiday celebrations

JCare also accommodates for all early dismissals and half-days ending at or after 11:30 am. All full-day care (or “School Days Out”, where your child’s school is not in session) are included with your JCare registration (except “transportation only” registrants). There is a separate charge for Winter Camp J during winter break.

Pm-Only Care: As schools are beginning to resume, we are committed to providing traditional afterschool care on the days that you need it. PM-Only Care is available Monday-Friday, 2-6pm, for parents who’d like to drop their kids off.

3-4pm: arrivals, healthy snack, indoor/outdoor free play, hands-on learning games (like chess, connect four, flash card relay races, etc.)

4-5:30pm: welcome circle, specialist-led enrichment programs and activities in arts, cooking, and sports, weekly value exploration, Jewish holiday learning and celebrations, special guests and projects, and homework help

JClub Teen membership (6th-8th Grade)

Looking for a safe environment for your 6-8th grader to explore their independence in a safe and fun environment? Middle school is a pivotal time in a young person’s life, where they start to navigate new experiences and enjoy increased independence. That’s why we’ve designed our JClub teen membership. Each middle schooler is a J member, which gives them access to all of our facilities including the gym, pool, fitness center, and youth locker rooms. JClub members can also socialize, play games, work on homework, or relax in our youth lounge space on the second floor.

In JCare, we believe that an equitable opportunity to recreation makes a positive impact on our student’s quality of life. Diversity enriches our community, which is why we strive to ensure that all children of all identities and abilities find the opportunity to fully participate in our program. Our JCare Inclusion Program is fully inclusive, providing additional support for students with disabilities to have an intentional afterschool experience where all children discover, learn and grow.
