Meet the Trainers

  • Bowen Brown
    Bowen Brown Personal Trainer

    I am a 6th generation Arizona native born and raised in Tucson.  I began playing basketball at the age of 6 and continue to train and coach at the youth level.  My passion is working with young athletes to improve sport specific skills, helping them gain confidence by setting and achieving personal fitness goals.  I enjoy spending time with my son, watching wildlife, following local basketball, and recently took up golf.  I am continuing my education with NASM in the areas of fitness nutrition and corrective exercise.

    Colin Easom Personal Trainer

    Colin has a personal mission statement: “To use my passion and expertise to inspire others to make healthy lifestyle choices.” He lives a plant-based lifestyle and is interested in vegan sports nutrition. His primary focus with clients is safety and injury prevention. Colin started his fitness journey with gymnastics in grade school, moved to distance running in college, then discovered obstacle racing in more recent years.

  • Denise Bermudez
    Denise Bermudez Personal Trainer

    Denise got her Health Sciences degree from U of A and started working at The J in 2017. She is always striving to better the health of others. Denise enjoys competing in half marathons and has also been a competitor in three bikini competitions.

  • Gabriel Parada
    Gabriel Parada Personal Trainer

    Gabriel was born in Tucson, AZ and raised in Tubac, AZ, a beautiful, historic, artistic town. He enjoys outdoor activities like riding quads, mudding, and hiking. Growing up, Gabe spent most weekends at his father’s ranch in Mexico, learning all about farm livestock. He gained a strong passion for weight training and football in high school and is a diehard Arizona Cardinals fan!

  • Kendra Gray
    Kendra Gray Personal Trainer

    Kendra’s favorite activity is Thai Boxing, along with yoga. She loves classical black & white movies and exploring ways to create gluten free, dairy free, healthy dessert! Kendra attended Pima Community College’s Health and Fitness Professionals program.

    Laura D’Aniello

    Laura was a competitive gymnast for 8 years, and also swam for the TJCC Stingrays though Middle School and High School. She’s always had a heart of compassion for people and a strong desire to help others to improve their quality of life. Along with coaching and training, attended the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale back in August of 2013.

    Laura is passionate about health and fitness, and cannot deny her heart’s calling of being a catalyst in one’s decision to pursue a healthy lifestyle. This is why she does what she does, and loves every last bit of it!

    Linda Arnaud Personal Trainer

    Linda has completed 16 marathons, including the Boston Marathon twice! She’s also competed in nine half marathons. She is passionate about fitness, family, and travel. Linda’s goal is to keep seniors active and independent, allowing them to enjoy the highest quality of life.

  • Mary Teachey Maher
    Mary Teachey Maher Personal Trainer

    Mary specializes in clients with chronic pain and movement disorders. As a research scientist, she brings over 23 years of experience, making the science of practice an art. Mary is a proponent of a whole-food, plant-based diet with minimal salt, oil, and sugar. She studied dance for 13 years and enjoys hiking, camping, and technical climbing with summits of Mt. Rainier and Mt. Baker.

    Patty Babel Personal Trainer

    As a life-long athlete, Patty found strength and fitness training to be key to her health and happiness. She’s a veteran of USAF and on top of owning her own business, returned to college to build her professional skills as a personal trainer. Now she’s sharing her passion for health and fitness with clients who want to challenge themselves and those who face challenges.

    Rhina Gerhauser Personal Trainer

    Rhina has been at The J since 1993. With over 30 years in fitness and wellness, including working alongside healthcare providers, she customizes functional fitness to improve strength, balance, mobility, and overall quality of life. Rhina has volunteered for Angel Charity for Children for 18 years helping raise over 30 million dollars and has run over 50 marathons including the Boston Marathon 6 times!

  • Scott Goodman
    Scott Goodman Personal Trainer

    Scott started his training career 4 years ago, but has been active and involved with sports his whole life playing baseball, basketball, football, and soccer. He became passionate about the gym shortly after high school and wanted to change people’s lives for the better, so he began personal training and teaching group fitness. When Scott isn’t training, you can find him outdoors enjoying a hike or cheering on the Vikings! P.S. Doesn’t work well with Packers fans.

  • Shelley Russell
    Shelley Russell Personal Trainer

    Shelley has been working at The J since 1995! Her passion is merging technology and fitness for the ultimate workout experience. As the only Heart Zones Internal Tester allowed to work directly with engineers, Shelley impacts the code that “Makes America Fit.” She uses this technology in her 30/30s training. She enjoys traveling and hanging out with her husband.

  • Veronika Zinsmaier
    Veronika Zinsmaier Personal Trainer

    Veronika has enjoyed working with senior clients at The J. She was a ski instructor for 10 years and lead a Jazz Dance group in Wuerzburg, Germany. She also loves cycling, mountain biking, and swimming. Fun fact: Veronika played the cello since she was a child and has been featured in multiple orchestras!
