Shavua Tov 2 Tammuz 5785

Shavua Tov

We are just 29 away from the opening ceremonies of the 2025 JCC Maccabi Games and Access here in Tucson, and the excitement is building by the day! In just a few short weeks, we will proudly welcome over 900 Jewish teens from across the globe, along with their coaches, families, and supporters, to join us in celebrating not only athletic excellence, but the spirit of Jewish peoplehood that connects us all.

As Pirkei Avot (2:21) teaches, לֹא עָלֶיךָ הַמְּלָאכָה לִגְמֹר וְלֹא אַתָּה בֶּן חוֹרִין לְהִבָּטֵל מִמֶּנָּה “You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to desist from it.” This value is expressed beautifully in this joyfully Song by Lev Tahor. Together, we have embraced this responsibility to build community, strengthen Jewish peoplehood, and inspire the next generation. Your dedication has made this monumental undertaking possible, reflecting the very best of our shared values.

It is not too late to join the effort, if you are interested in being a volunteer or host family, register HERE.

None of this would be possible without the incredible generosity, dedication, and support of our community. From volunteers and host families to Donors and partners, each of you has helped make this monumental undertaking a reality. Your commitment reflects the very best of what our J and community stands for: building a vibrant, inclusive, and resilient Jewish community rooted in shared values and collective purpose.

The JCC Maccabi Games are more than just an athletic competition. They are an expression of Amiut Yehudit—Jewish peoplehood—bringing together young people from different cities, countries, and backgrounds to strengthen their Jewish identity, build lasting friendships, and experience the power of community. In a world where Jewish communities face growing challenges, this gathering is a bold statement of unity, pride, and hope.

As we look ahead to welcoming the world to Tucson, we do so with gratitude, excitement, and a profound sense of responsibility to create an unforgettable experience that reflects the warmth, strength, and hospitality of our community.

Together, as a community, we will achieve our hopes and dreams for a better future, this feeling is beautifully expressed by Shiri Maimon in Ba’shah Ha’ba’a

Thank you for your continued partnership and belief in this vision. Together, we are making history and building the Jewish future, one game at a time.
