Tucson International Jewish Film Festival: The Levys of Monticello In-Person Screening + Post-Film Program

January 18 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Tucson International Jewish Film Festival: The Levys of Monticello In-Person Screening + Post-Film Program

2021 / England / 70 minutes / English

When Thomas Jefferson died in 1826, he left behind a mountain of personal debt, which forced his heirs to sell his beloved Monticello home and all of its possessions. The Levys of Monticello is a documentary film that tells the little-known story of the Levy family, who owned and carefully preserved Monticello for nearly a century – far longer than Jefferson or his descendants. The remarkable story of the Levy family also intersects with the rise of antisemitism that runs throughout the course of American history.

POST-FILM PROGRAM | WED, JAN 18 AT THE LOFT CINEMA IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE SCREENING OF THE FILM The film’s director, Steven Pressman, will be in conversation with Jennifer Selco, Tucson J Director of Jewish Life and Learning, about the making of the film and the messages of history that are relevant today.

The post-film program will also be available over Zoom. A Zoom link will be sent to all ticket holders approximately 24-hours before the program.
