70 Faces of Israel: Sigal Kanotopsky

February 19 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Join us on February 19 at 6:30pm for an an evening of learning with Sigal Kanotopsky, the Northeast Regional Director of the Jewish Agency for Israel, about her experience in Israel on October 7.

Sigal Kanotopsky has covered an unusual and impressive distance in both her personal and professional journeys. Born in a small village in Ethiopia’s rural north, she made aliya at the age of five, having walked for weeks to meet the flight that took her to Israel.

Today, Sigal is the Northeast Regional Director for The Jewish Agency for Israel. Based in Philadelphia, she is responsible for building relationships between the programs and professionals. Sigal also oversees the Shlichim (Israeli emissaries) to the region.
Sigal will speak about her personal and professional journey, including her current work in Israel with the Jewish Agency in the wake of the October 7 terrorist attacks.

She has been recognized as a leader in social change, being featured as one of JPost’s 50 Most Influential Jews of 2022, receiving the Rappaport Prize for women leading breakthroughs, and being selected as one of the 50 most socially influential leaders by the Yediot Aharonot newspaper in 2018. She has a B.A. in International Relations from the Hebrew University and an M.A. in Dispute Resolution and Management from Tel Aviv University.

Our tradition asserts that the Torah has 70 faces, meaning that the Torah (bible) is open to all sorts of interpretations, all of them applicable and true. This deeply valuable insight helps Judaism remain vibrant and varied. The 70 Faces of Israel is an exploration of Israel’s many faces. Like a beautiful tapestry or mosaic, made up of many elements, no one single color but many colors, Israel is stronger and more wonderful because of her multifaceted nature

Let us celebrate Israel by seeking ways to connect with the country and its people beyond the realm of political articles and analysis. By doing so, we can mutually enrich the lives of both ourselves and our brothers and sisters in Israel. Join us throughout the year in the journey of exploring the 70 Faces of Israel.
