Camp J Day Camp

summer 2022 details coming this winter

The Best Day Camp in Tucson

As one of the only American Camp Association accredited day camps in Tucson, Camp J is Tucson’s most trusted camping programs. Our summer camp is full of fun activities that promote creativity, initiative, and leadership.

Day camp at the J is much more than childcare–it’s a place for having experiences that last a lifetime. We are in the business of creating lifelong friendships, turning summer memories into lifelong stories, and teaching and developing lifelong skills.

Our Camp staff are all CPR/First Aid certified and background checked. Additionally, they receive extensive pre-camp training in safety, behavior management, conflict resolution, and group dynamics.

Campers enjoy the Tucson J’s indoor PlaySpace, kosher demonstration kitchen, full-sized gym, youth locker rooms, pool, Splash Park, outdoor fields, tennis courts, playgrounds, computer lab, art studio, dance room, youth lounge, and more!

Shalom (Peace): Grades K-2

A program designed for campers to enjoy the traditional day camp experience and explore all the Tucson JCC has to offer. Grouped by age, campers are involved in programming designed to meet the needs of their developmental level. Shalom campers participate in activities led by experienced specialist instructors along with swim instruction as part of the summer fun.

Giborim (Heroes): Grades 3-5

In Giborim, campers enjoy a traditional day camp designed to nurture creativity and build skills while allowing campers to explore new interests, have fun, and be a part of our camp community. Giborim campers participate in activities led by experienced specialist instructors as well as have Kef (Specialty Activities) to experience more specialized activities with higher level instruction.

Tiyul (Trip): Grades 6-9

Our Tiyul program is designed to give older campers a unique experience built toward the needs of ‘tween and teen participants. Each week will include a day field trip and an overnight at the Tucson JCC.

Inclusion Camp and Summer Taglit

Our award-winning Special Needs Inclusion Program is designed to include children with certain special needs into the Camp J day camp setting. Children are paired with advocates in a 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3 ratio. We work with your family and support coordinators to create the best summer camp experience possible. About 15% of our campers are in the inclusion program. Ages range from 5 to 12.
