Camp J Day Camp

Camp J is one of Tucson’s most trusted camping programs

As one of the only American Camp Association accredited day camps in Tucson, Camp J is one of Tucson’s most trusted camping programs. Our day camps are full of fun, child-centered activities that promote creativity, initiative, and leadership in our campers.

Campers enjoy the use of the Tucson J’s beautiful, 110,000-square-foot facility, including the indoor PlaySpace, kosher demonstration kitchen, full-sized gym, youth locker rooms, pool, Splash Park, outdoor fields, tennis courts, playgrounds, computer lab, art studio, dance room, youth lounge, and more!

Day camp at the J is much more than childcare–it’s a place for learning skills and gaining confidence that campers take with them into adulthood. Children are encouraged to learn new skills, make new friends, and explore their interests in a warm, friendly, safe environment.

Our Camp staff are all CPR/First Aid certified, background checked, and receive extensive pre-camp training in safety, behavior management, conflict resolution, and group dynamics.

Quick links

Shalom (Peace): Grades K-2

A program designed for campers to enjoy the traditional day camp experience and explore all Camp J has to offer. Grouped by age, campers are involved in programming designed to meet the needs of their developmental level. Shalom campers participate in activities led by experienced specialist instructors as well as get a taste of our Chugim (specialty choice electives). Daily swim and swim instruction are part of the summer fun.

Giborim (Heroes): Grades 3-5

In Giborim, campers enjoy a traditional day camp designed to nurture creativity and build skills while allowing campers to explore new interests, have fun, and be a part of our camp community. Giborim campers participate in activities led by experienced specialist instructors as well as have Chugim (specialty choice electives) to be able to choose their own activities throughout the week. A Weekly field trip is also part of the program.

Tiyul (Trip): Grades 6-8

Nothing says adventure like Camp Tiyul! Each week we embark on exciting excursions. We will be going on a variety of day trips and overnight trips each week.

Much of the camp programming is designed to engage campers in teamwork, making new friends, and helping create the awareness of self.

Inclusion Camp and Summer Taglit

Our award-winning Special Needs Inclusion Program is designed to include children with certain special needs into the Camp J day camp setting. Children are carefully paired with advocates in a 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3 ratio. We work with parents, children, staff, and support coordinators as a team to create the best summer camp experience possible. About 15% of our campers are in the inclusion program, ages range from 5 to 12.
